ORC – Week Two

ORC…I’m here hoping you read last week’s post.

Otherwise, you might be expecting a photo of a creature from Lord of the Rings.

This is Week Two of the One Room Challenge….

Week 2 Happens HERE

Oh, that ORC.

…And I am here to update you on my progress.

(Koda is now laughing his curled Pomeranian tail off.)

Thank you, btw, to my on-line friend, Iris and her pooch, Koda…

I’ve come to visualize Iris as my inner voice… I usually call myself out via the teal text. If it were in real life, that teal voice would be my good friend Maureen. But since no one in my real life–besides immediate family–even knows that I blog (yes, really), I’ve come to assign that voice to Iris, my awesomely pithy Where Blogger’s Live friend who holds me accountable very politely and with great humor. I love that! Last week, I reached out to ask Iris if she’d mind if I mentioned her in that context. True to form, she said I could count on her…and confirmed my suspicion that we “get” each other. Everyone needs an Iris.

That said…

Em...Could we get on with it???!!!

Yes. (You can tell that last one wasn’t Iris, btw. She would NEVER say that…(although it’s likely she might think it.)

Anywho… have I made ANY progress during Week Two?

Uh, YES!!! If you follow me on Instagram (and hopefully with the sound ON), you might be one of a small group of people who saw this fabulous reel (if I do say so myself) noting that we said sayonara to our dining room cabinet.

keep the dining room cabinet
Now you see it……
Should I get rid of my china cabinet?
….Now you don’t.

As an update to last week’s post, I did also:

  • Clear out and eliminate the crap corner as well as the adjacent console table.
According to Mr, this alone was worth the price of admission (which is free, btw)
  • Relocate the computer corner to a spare room.
Toodaloo computer table!
  • Replace the Dining Room cabinet with the COMPLETED buffet cabinet (tune in next week); take down the repurposed family room pictures from the dining room walls.
Someone has some wall space to fill….

  • Receive delivery and replace UNmatching chairs with additional seating from online reseller.

Hey wow! Someone was selling chairs just like mine!

And delve into a full-blown panic for signing myself up for this crazy thing and spiral briefly into my usual overthinking mode.

I knew it!!! Here come the excuses…

Then I made a series of productive decisions, organized my curated supplies, made a schedule for blog and IG posts, set weekly goals, ordered things on my supply list, brainstormed some ways to make the room fun….

Wait? Is this DustandDoghair.com and what have you done with Em?

I KNOW!!! I don’t believe it either!!!

I’m sure I’ll revisit the full-blown panic mode several times, but I’m currently feeling pretty good about Week Two and my potential to get to Week Eight.

Can’t wait to show you the buffet!!!

directoire buffet, dining room buffet

I found something fun to do with those diamonds!!!!

See you next week for ORC – Week 3!

  1. We have filled practically every inch of wall space with something over here, so if you need help with that…just holler. We have photos, paintings, realia, lots of crosses and as many swords, and assortment of fingerprints and smudges on walls, doors and windows alike. I can help you figure out the perfect thing for that blank wall.

Can’t wait to see the buffet. I might have discovered it on the ORC homepage but won’t cheat and confirm that there. Will keep following along with your adventures right here.

    1. Lord of the Rings (Peter Jackson versions). Orcs are the bad guys, tortured elves taken by dark powers. We spend waaaay too much time rewatching movies.

  2. Yay! I’m excited! It feels like big things are happening at your house!! I can SEE THE PROGRESS!!

Also, I love all continuing comments by Iris and Koda…

Meanwhile, your own sweet little pooch is his darling self in these photos each week… I feel like you can seem him taking it all in, considering possible content for his OWN blog. Who of us knows what dogs do with our computers when we’re not looking?!

May the Force be with you, Em! You will triumph!

    1. Honestly, I could keep Iris and Koda in all of the posts throughout, but I want to make sure I’m being respectful and in the attempt to harass myself (which I greatly enjoy) do not want to give a false and inaccurate impression of such a genuinely lovely person (er, of Iris, not me). To keep it going would make her sound critical, which she absolutely is NOT. So…I’ve gone back to the comments being unattributed.

      Thanks for the encouragement!
