I have a DIY list.
I have the ideas.
I have the tools.
I have the supplies.
AND.. I have a track record for procrastination justified by endless excuses.
The last time I published a bucket list, I broke my knee a day later. So, I’m hoping NOT to jinx myself this time, even though I do have goals…and the desire to see them through.
So, here is a non-committal, no promises, wishy washy declaration that:
This year, I hope to:
Make new ottomans for the family room that AREN’T hideous..
Change out the base for my kitchen table (done).
Recover my beloved kitchen wing chairs.
Change out my recessed lights and remaining boob lights (underway)
and FINALLY start my dining room makeover with
new hand-crafted draperies
panel molding and/or a mural on the walls, and
cover/paint/update the chairs for the DR table
There’s also a new fireplace happening due to a certain chimney fire that occurred during the first few months of the pandemic,
a fun art project years in the making, and
new throw pillows for the family room (because every new ottoman should have new throw pillows).
There are several other things I’d love to add to the list, but those are the biggies (and let’s be honest: history shows the odds are against me.)
Oh, and Mr has plans too…including tearing out ALL the flooring and carpeting on the first floor and replacing it with a wood floor. You know, because we now have so much experience putting down floors and THAT went so well. Barely a bicker to be had. (I would insert an eyeroll emoji here, but I couldn’t find a large enough one to properly convey my sarcasm.)
Usually, I’m fairly paralyzed by indecision. However, I am finding myself in the unique position of–after way too many hours searching for the whats and how to’s–knowing EXACTLY what I want to do.
SO….time to get started…and see whether this year is filled with excuses or action.
Fingers crossed. Place your bets below: How many things from the list do you think I’ll actually accomplish?
But first…a post on an unrelated topic….tune in Friday for some Pet Therapy.
Oh. My. Now THAT’S a LIST, Em!
I was going to say that all that’s on my list is “Wash the dishes,” but I guess that’s not EXACTLY true (though that IS a BIG one).
Maybe THAT’S what I’ll put on my headstone. My final “To Do” list. Ha ha.
Hope you’re making progress with SOMETHING. And I’m intrigued by “the boob lights.”

Hello, Bettye, my dear!
I think this list may actually be a good thing. I feel a little accountable to make things happen.
Also, the tombstone inscription 🤣
WOW, now that’s quite a list. I surely wish you the best at getting it all done. Iris
I will take those wishes with gratitude, Iris!
The first step in any addiction is admittance, right? So being able to put it down on paper (or a computer screen) and then putting it out there for the world to see has got to count for something.
Although I will say that the list seems very extensive. Almost as much as my “what I want to knit” list. Or “the things I want to blog about” list. But goals are a good thing!!
As for the pet therapy, you know that just melts my heart, right?
BTW, is that new base for the table so that toes don’t run into it?
XOXO

Well, the one difference this time is I genuinely know WHAT I want to do, so no decision issues to paralyze me. I just have to get the furballs settled and dig in. Fingers crossed!!!
As for the table, it was purely comfort over aesthetics. The version I made had an apron which just seemed to be in the way when sitting at the table. It’s much more comfortable now! (Mr just needs to use his eyes and/or wear his slippers and his toes will be saved.).
